2010. We find ourselves in the middle of the 21st century, in what feels like the future. Nevertheless: a lot has already been seen. Especially in design. There's been retro fashion and neo trends. There's been baroque kitsch and grey objectivity. "Now what?" is the design question of our time. Answer: one newly interprets what's familiar – and puts it together in a contrasting relationship. Plastic and wood. Or natural color tones and technical forms. The outcome? A lot of great ideas.
- The wood coatings card from Clou and Merck: new possibilities with a traditional material
So this is how it's always been with trends. Generally they start small, remain in a niche for a long time – and then suddenly develop a strong dynamic. A current trend: decorative wood coatings with effect pigments from Merck. The creative potential is evident in the new wood coatings card from Clou and Merck.
- Miraval® WR Magic White and Iriodin® SW Fine Star Gold brave light and weather
This doesn't pertain just to winter: those who step outside should dress themselves protectively against weather's inconveniences. This motto also applies figuratively to Merck effect pigments: we have made two of our latest products – Miraval® 95411 WR Magic White and Iriodin® 9327 SW Fine Star Gold – weather resistant. Thanks to an additional surface treatment they are now especially suitable for exterior applications. But first, one step at a time.
- Two new Colorstream® pigments that pick up timeless color worlds
"Classic" generally is referred to something that is beautiful, refined, mature – and timeless. Which also means that it can be newly and modernly reinterpreted again and again. We've done just that with Colorstream® T10-08 Royal Twinkle and Colorstream® T10-07 Luxury Twinkle. The new color travel pigments with the typical flowing gradations of the Colorstream® series have a classic appearance, but still look utterly fresh.
